In my Chinese Cooking Classes I aim to show my students how healthy original Chinese Food is prepared and many of the different cooking styles that original Chinese food is based on. All of my recipes use fresh ingredients so that the students can manage what goes into their dishes. A recent article published on 7th March 2013 by the BBC News emphasised the importance of reducing processed foods and using more fresh ingredients in our daily meals.
Each class will include two dishes from different Chinese regions. Although these dishes are authentic Chinese regional recipes, the ingredients can be easily obtained from local shops, for example, fresh meat from the local butcher, vegetables from local market stalls, and supermarkets, etc. The imported Chinese ingredients can be found in Chinese or East Asian Shops and Supermarkets within reasonable distance from Royston. A detailed shopping list and instructions will be given to each student priory to each class.
During the classes, I will demonstrate how to cook each dish, giving individual supervision accordingly, and answering questions. Everybody in the class will have the opportunity to taste the food prepared by myself and so have first-hand experience of the flavour of Chinese home cooking.
