There are many types of activities that are designed for improving group performance by addressing specific needs; others can be quite social in nature to encourage team members to spend time together.  Developing relationships and a sense of togetherness is a very important aspect of team building, but developing team synergy is often not constructively addressed as it requires a safe, mutually respectful and relaxed environment to overcome the group’s formal hierarchy.
